- 6:30-7:30pm: Basketball or Dodgeball

- 7:30-8:30pm: Badminton or Pickleball

No experience necessary

Only equipment required is athletic, closed toed shoes.

Open to 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals & Allies.

ALL GENDER INCLUSIVE WITH NO GENDERED RULES!

This season, we will not be keeping score and will not have set teams.

Teams will be made at the gym and score-based games will be moved to time-based (instead of playing until 21, we play a 10-15 minute game, then switch).

GENERAL CLUB RULES

All players must be 18+ and Canadian or US Residents
All sports with WRSC are no contact.
- Rules of sports will be altered to remove contact
We are a scent-free environment. Please refrain for wearing any scents while participating in activities (eg. perfume, cologne, after shave, eau de toilette, etc.)
If you are sick or not feeling well (even if you tested negative for Covid-19), please do not attend any activities or gym sessions.
Sturdy, athletic footwear is required.
- Metal spikes are not permitted. Plastic ones are welcome. Flip flops, slippers, and/or bare feet/socks are never allowed for warmups or play.
Hard shell knee pads, elbow pads, or wrist guards are not allowed unless specified by the sport’s rules.
- Soft pads and hard, soccer-style shin guards are welcome whenever a player would like to wear them.
All injuries must be reported to either your captain or the Sport Coordinator or Vice Coordinator
All participants must fill out a waiver before participating.
Respect and Consent are mandatory.
All players are required to sign in on the Game Sheet upon arrival.
All referee’s calls are final and are not to be disputed/argued. Any issues or questions should be directed to your captain.
All fouls/penalties will follow our stoplight system:
- Green: Not recorded or tracked. Oopsie, everyday, unintentional fouls that are not overly aggressive
- Yellow: Warning fouls resulting from dangerous, aggressive, overly competitive, or rough play. Can also be given for verbal interactions that violate our code of conduct. 2 Yellow fouls in one game or 4 in a season results in removal from the game and could result in further disciplinary actions.
- Red: Overly aggressive, intentional, malicious, or targeted actions, including verbal actions. Results in immediate removal from the game and further disciplinary actions.

BASKETBALL RULES

Rock, Paper, Scissor decides who starts with the ball.
Team starting with the ball must start with it below their baseline.
1. Team that doesn't start with it must start on their side of the court.
Any contact results in a foul
1. A foul against the offense results in 1 free throw
2. A foul against the defense results in a stoppage of play and the defense gaining the ball on the sideline
3. If you are fouled, call out “Foul” to stop the game and the foul is given
4. The ball is live right after a free throw.
If the ball goes out of bounds, the team who didn't touch it last gains possession and inbounds it
No offensive players are allowed to stand in the key for more than 3 seconds.
Once the player has dribbled the ball and picked it up, they cannot dribble it again. This is called double dribble. Ball goes to the opposing team on the sideline.
1. Active dribbling with both hands IS allowed.
Once a player has picked up the ball, they are allowed to pass, pivot, shoot, or take 2 steps with the ball. Any more than 2 steps results in a travel. Ball goes to the opposing team on the sideline.
After a basket is scored, the other team inbounds the ball from behind their defensive baseline. The defense must get behind the half court line of their own zone and are not allowed to play defense in their offensive zone (No full court press).
Changes happen on the fly and during stoppages of play. Please be courteous with playing time.
Defense can only be played on your defending half of the court. As soon as a ball is turned over, you must get to your half.
You must leave an arm's length between you and a player you are defending.
No boxing out, no picks, and no contact.

Rules we don't play with

Shot clock
Over and back
Double handed dribbling counting as a double dribble. Dribbling with both hands on the ball is allowed in this club.

DODGEBALL RULES

Game start/layout/end

1) The gym will be divided into two equal sized courts. The borders for the court will be the blue volleyball lines. The borders will constitute the live playing fields. Players may only exit the live field of play to retrieve an errant ball or due to being eliminated.

2) Each team will field an equal number of players, up to 6 players per side.

3) Each team will start the game with 3 dodgeballs.

4) The game will begin on a three second countdown with teams alternating number calling. (eg: Blue calls "ONE", Yellow calls "TWO", Blue calls "THREE" and the game begins).

5) The game will end when one team's players have all been eliminate.

Live vs Dead balls

1) A live ball is any ball that is thrown or held by an opposing player. A ball must be thrown from inside the court boundaries to be considered live.

2) A live ball is considered dead when it is caught and controlled by an opposing player or it hits the ground, ceiling, wall or any other permanent/semi-permanent obstacle.

Eliminations

1) A player will be considered eliminated when one of the following scenarios occurs:

2) The player's body parts touches the opposing team's side of the court.

3) A player's thrown ball is caught by an opposing player before the ball is considered dead.

4) A player is hit with or touches a live ball and that ball is not caught by the hit player's team before becoming a dead ball. While a ball is still considered live, all players hit by that thrown ball are considered live until the ball is dead.

5) A player has the dodgeball they are holding knocked out of their hand by a live ball thrown by an opposing player.

6) A players throw hits an opponent in the head

7) A player shows unsportsmanlike conduct and is asked to leave the court by the ref.

8) A player is called eliminated by a referee.

Revived players

1) A player will be able to return to the current game when a teammate catches an opposing team's live ball.

2) Revived players will return to the court in the order of elimination (ie the first player eliminated in a round will be the first player revived by a catch unless that player is unable to play due to injury, at which point the next player eliminated will enter the game)

3) A revived player is not considered live until they have stepped onto the playing court.

NOTE:

We are a NO head shot league. Headshots are sometimes unavoidable, but we ask that you keep your throws low.
Any 2 headshots in a single game will cause you to be ejected from that game. You may return to play the next game.
If any player is consistently being ejected or any headshots are considered targeted, that player may face disciplinary action at the discretion of the Club Coordinator and/or Vice Coordinator.

PICKLEBALL RULES

(different from regular pickleball as we don't score and to simplify things)

Rock, Paper, Scissor decides who serves the ball.
Game starts with one player in each quadrant of the court.
Service starts behind the baseline of the right quadrant and the ball must be served to the quadrant opposite the service quadrant
- Before the serve, you must indicate which server you are (Player 1, 2, 3, or 4) so we can keep track of who serves next.
- The ball must go over the net (can touch), beyond the kitchen, and stay in play.
- It must be played back in the same way.
After the service and return, the ball can bounce anywhere in play but can only bounce once before being hit.
Players are only allowed to play a ball in the kitchen if it bounces in it first.
- Players can BE in the kitchen otherwise, but cannot play a ball while in it.
You lose the serve when:
- A ball is not served correctly
- A ball is not returned correctly
- A player touches the net
- A player plays the ball while standing in the kitchen that didn't bounce first
- The ball goes out of bounds
- The ball bounces more than once on your side of the court
When a serve is lost, the other partner on the team gets the serve.
When the other partner's serve is lost, the players on the other team get to serve.
If your team doesn't lose the serve, you keep serving until you have either served 6 times or you lose the serve.
Game ends when time is complete.

BADMINTON RULES

(different from regular badminton as we don't score and to simplify things)

Rock, Paper, Scissor decides who serves the ball.
At no time during the game should the player touch the net, with his racquet or his body.
The shuttlecock should not be carried on or come to rest on the racquet.
A player should not reach over the net to hit the shuttlecock.
A serve must carry cross court (diagonally) to be valid.
During the serve, a player should not touch any of the lines of the court, until the server strikes the shuttlecock. During the serve the shuttlecock should always be hit from below the waist.
A player wins a rally when he strikes the shuttlecock and it touches the floor of the opponent's side of the court or when the opponent commits a fault. The most common type of fault is when a player fails to hit the shuttlecock over the net or it lands outside the boundary of the court.
Each side can strike the shuttlecock only once before it passes over the net. Once hit, a player can't strike the shuttlecock in a new movement or shot.
The shuttlecock hitting the ceiling is counted as a fault.
Game ends when time is complete
