GENERAL RULES

• Only those over 18 and who are Canadian Citizens are allowed on the field and in the dugouts. Others are welcome to watch and hangout on the bleachers

• No perfume/eau de toilette/cologne/after shave or very strong scents

  • Bus spray and sunscreen are allowed

• You MUST be wearing closed-toed, sturdy, athletic shoes

  • Metal Cleat Footwear is NOT allowed. Only rubber soled footwear or molded spikes are allowed. 

• If you are sick or not feeling well (even if you tested negative for Covid-19), please do not attend any activities or gym sessions.

• All injuries must be reported to either your captain or Bolt

• All participants must fill out a waiver before participating.

• Respect and Consent are mandatory. 

• All players are required to sign in on the Game Sheet upon arrival.

• All referee’s calls are final and are not to be disputed/argued. Any issues or questions should be directed to your captain.

• All fouls/penalties will follow our stoplight system: 

  • Green: Not recorded or tracked. Oopsie, everyday, unintentional fouls that are not overly aggressive

  • Yellow: Warning fouls resulting from dangerous, aggressive, overly competitive, or rough play. Can also be given for verbal interactions that violate our code of conduct. 2 Yellow fouls in one game or 4 in a season results in removal from the game and could result in further disciplinary actions.

  • Red: Overly aggressive, intentional, malicious, or targeted actions, including verbal actions. Results in immediate removal from the game and further disciplinary actions.

Artificial Turf Rules

• No spitting.

• Smoking and chewing tobacco are prohibited. This includes vapes & cannabis

• No animals (dogs or pets of any kind) are allowed.

• No picking or pulling of the grass fibers or infill material on the field.

• Only water in non-breakable containers is permitted.

• No glass containers or aluminum cans.

• No food is permitted on the field or in dugouts. Including but not limited to: gum, sunflower seeds, grapes, oranges, and nuts

Natural Grass Rules

• No spitting.

• Animals are welcome, on leash and off the field/dugout (it is a public park)

• No food is permitted on the field or in dugouts. Including but not limited to: gum, sunflower seeds, grapes, oranges, and nuts

GAMEPLAY

Played with 7-12 players in the field in a baseball set up.

1. Home team takes the field first. Away team Kicks first.

2. The pitcher rolls the ball over the plate where it is kicked or the bat catcher throws it back

3. If the ball goes out of bounds before it lands in play, it is a foul ball. Kicker must kick again.

• If it is fair, the kicker runs to 1st base, then 2nd, then 3rd, then home. 

• If it is caught in the air, the kicker is out. All base runners are safe, but must remain on their original base.

• If a player from the fielding team is holding the ball and touches a runner with the ball, or their foot touches the base before a runner arrives, that runner is out.

4. Play stops and runners can no longer run once the pitcher has the ball, and is on the mound.

5. Points are scored when a player crosses the safety line at home plate.

6. The Inning half ends after the last kicker kicks and the fielding team (or kicking team's catcher) has the ball in hand and touches home plate.

7.  The kicking team then goes to the field and the fielding team kicks

WRSC Specific Rules

• Everyone kicks in every inning

• "Kickers" can choose to kick or throw the ball.

• Kick until you kick a fair ball. No strikeouts

• Players can walk to bases, jog, sprint, or opt for another player to run for them. Any negative speak or encouraging someone to use a different runner is not allowed.
  *This cannot be used strategically (getting a faster runner to run an important play) 

• All runners are safe on caught fly balls (kicker is out), but must stay on or return to their original base

• Runners cannot leave a base when the pitcher has the ball in their hands and is near the pitcher's mound.

• No stealing bases (defined as running when the pitcher has ended play, before the ball is kicked).

• No leading off bases. You must be touching your base until the ball is kicked.

• No "dodgeball outs" (throwing the ball at people to get them out).

• No intentional sliding.

• If you are going to try and catch the ball, you must call “I’ve got it” loudly and proudly.

• No matter what team the Catcher is on, they must try their best to help the Fielding team.

• Runners only have to cross the SAFETY LINE at home plate in order to be considered safe. Fielders must touch the plate while holding the ball, before the runner arrives for the runner to be considered out.

  1. • Runners who touch Home Plate are OUT

• The running lanes are the direct line between two bases where runners need a clear path to get to the next base. Please be mindful of this. If you are playing a base and trying to get an out, you should be standing on the OUTSIDE CORNER of the base (the one pointing to the outfield).

  1. • Runners who run too far off this line will be OUT

• No runner can pass another runner. 

• If the play is not a forced out (the player on 2nd or 3rd base has no one on the base behind them), then the player MUST be tagged to be considered out

• Runners who were already running to the next base when the pitcher has the ball can keep running to the next base, but the pitcher can throw the ball to that base and still get them out.

• Example: Jon is running from 1st to 2nd when Hannah, the pitcher, has the ball in hand. Jon can choose to go back to 1st and be safe, or keep running to 2nd. If Jon keeps running to 2nd, Hannah can throw the ball to the person playing 2nd base and if they have the ball in their hands, touching the base before Jon gets there, Jon is out. If there is anyone else on base and Hannah throws the ball to someone else or leaves the pitcher's mound area, they can also keep running.

• An inning is complete when each player on the team that is batting has had a turn to bat and a fielding player is holding the ball on home plate.

  1. If a team has less players than the other team, they will bat more players to make up the difference, but MUST bat different extra players each inning.
     Ex: Blue has 7 players and Red has 10. Blue will choose 3 players to bat twice in the 1st inning, but 3 different players must bat the 2nd inning. 

  2. Teams MUST announce their last Batter.

GREEN Cards

• Illegal steal / leading off

• Sliding

• The first time a runner touches home plate

• Runner accidentally hit by fielding team's thrown or kicked ball

• Standing in the running lane/runner interference

• Runner running too wide off the base line 

• Other team’s Catcher not trying their best to help the Fielding team.

Green Cards constitute an automatic out/safe, depending on which team violated the rule (ex: Leading off=runner out, dodgeball out=runner safe, etc.)

UMPIRES

Players are NEVER to make a call in the field that the umpire has not already announced. (this will be enforced as a green card where no danger is present and a yellow card if it puts people in danger), unless there is no umpire for the game.

Players are allowed to ask the umpire clarifying questions, along the lines of :
“Was I safe?”

“Was that an out?”
“Timeout, I need to adjust something”

Players cannot ask the umpire justification or argue a call. They are to go to their captains and the captains are to approach the umpire calmly and respectfully at the next stoppage of play for questions like: 

“I thought we were allowed to steal, just not second”
“Why did you call that safe?”

“Why was that not an out?”

All Umpire Decision are Final!
